Hi there! Beautiful work! If I may ask, are you sculpting all the branches ect by hand, and did you use an armature ( I use hangers, but the wire can be hard to model sometimes, my hands are a bit stiff.. Also fascinating paint and clay definition. May I please know what kinds you use? Do you paint before or after firing? Sorry haha I am so interested in clay. I love it. I am mostly interested in mythological creatures myself, but this seems an ideal material base. They look amazing:)

Hello! I'm sure she makes them all by hand , but some of her figures have the details made of thin wire , maybe so that they don't break . It has to have an armature , wings are in fact extremely heavy ; and as you see , the whole dragon is only supported by very tiny claws . Just buy a wire that is resistant but not extremely hard , and model it with pliers , they help a lot :) (Smile)
In regard to the paints , the most used are normal acrylic paints , but some people use vinyl paintings or something like that ; I recommend you acrylics :) (Smile) (and a sealer after it , maybe a clay varnish , or a matte spray varnish).
As far as I know , she uses air-drying clay , so she hasn't to bake/fire it in any moment . In case you use clay that has to be baked , paint always after baking .
I hope I helped you , and If you have more questions you can ask me!;) (Wink)

i love her/his creations! also, i make some clay figures and want to get better at making them. i was thinking about getting the 'grey clay' (i can't remember what it was called) and then painting that, instead of using the pre-colored blocks of clay. what kind of wire/armature should i use to get started?and, to say again, this work is AMAZING. i love it.:happybounce: La la la la

Her creations:) (Smile)
The grey clay is called super sculpey firm ; I don't recommend you to use it for a whole sculpture , because it is , -as its name says- , very firm and hard to work , use it only for tiny and precise details , like ears , teeth , claws , branches or whatever you please Meow :3  For the rest of the body use super sculpey , it comes in a tan color . And use the clay you want , the advantage of painting it is that your colors don't get dirty while modelling , specially white!XD  But coloring every sculpture can get a bit tedious , find out which one you prefer!:) (Smile)
And there is no kind of armature for begginers , if your figure is very little and doesn't need very much  support , use only thin foil .If the armature is going to be for a big and heavy sculpture , build a wire armature , and fill the most bulky parts -like the chest- with foil in order to make a light armature and to save clay . Here are some cool tutorials that may help you :
fav.me/d6ajec0
fav.me/d5avja2
fav.me/d7a9bsc
The first one is for little figures , made only with foil , the other two can help you to figure out how wire armatures are made . I don't recommend you to begin sculpting humans , they are a big pain in the neck!:D (Big Grin)
I wish you good luck with your sculptures and try out new things , new shapes , new creatures!!;) (Wink)
Hope I helped you , and if you have more questions just ask me!Meow :3
